EXPERIENCED USERS   TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Water Information page details the level of flow and difficulty of the River Tryweryn. Paddlers must be sufficiently experienced and equipped to paddle in this environment. 

There are assumed risks with all activities on the River Tryweryn: participants must understand and accept such risks. 

The River Tryweryn below the NWWC does not benefit from inspections for hazards or the automatic removal of any hazards that come to light.

I understand that the NWWC is unable to accept any liability in respect of loss or damage to property however caused, at the NWWC.

Access and egress for the lower river are from the NWWC site and the fire station car park in Bala only. Please do not access or egress at any other point on the river.

The Centre Staff reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 

Everyone should be treated with respect and should give respect to others. Everyone should feel safe to enjoy their time here. If you are worried about how you, or someone else is being treated, please talk to reception or NWWC management. Whilst taking part in an activity, participants may be photographed by CW, the NWWC or their approved agents. These images may be used for promotion by CW. If this is not acceptable please contact the NWWC before your visit. We will take all possible steps to ensure such images are used solely for the purpose they are intended. If you become aware that these images are being used inappropriately you should inform the NWWC immediately.

All persons signing will have Canoe Wales day membership except for current UK Paddlesport Governing Body members.

The shuttle service will be for boats and paddlers with additional needs. Please use the paths when walking back up. Boats will be unloaded and left unattended at the top of the river. Paddlers should be aware and accept that using the shuttle trailer may result in wear and tear on boats. The bus driver is responsible for determining when the trailer is full and for securing the load. 

When booking a discounted Facility Fee place (e.g. NGB membership), proof of membership must be produced on the booking date, otherwise the booking card will be charged the additional fee. 

Water releases are controlled by Natural Resources Wales and can change at short notice. Please check before you travel - https://www.nationalwhitewatercentre.co.uk/water-information. 

Bookings are non-refundable, except in the event of a water release cancellation. Any refunds will be made to the payment card and can take up to 30 working days to show on your statement.

Anyone booking for a person other than themselves must have the authority of that person to accept the terms and conditions on their behalf. Parents/guardians booking for a junior are accepting the terms and conditions on behalf of their child.

In line with current guidance from British Canoeing, the NWWC does not endorse the use of leashes while using SUPs in white water.

•  Must hold adequate liability insurance and have submitted appropriate quaificiations.

• Paddlers under your instruction should be of an appropriate standard to paddle here. 
• It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that their group are aware of and abide by the terms and conditions of use, at all times. 

  Must be experienced to raft on grade 3 without a guide, including the capability (training and equipment) to deal with a pinned raft and other river incidents. Teams should be able to maintain control and avoid collisions. Any team found not be of the required standard will be asked to get off the water and seek training prior to returning.

·        Race training is acceptable but must not interfere with other water users.

·        Rafts must break out upstream of Ski Slope to visually check the stopper is clear before committing to the rapid (alternatively, a spotter can check for you and signal you through if clear).

·        The river right eddy and groyne immediately downstream of Miss Davies’ bridge must be clear of rafts before committing to this rapid.

  The ‘Top Site’ section of the River Tryweryn is from the Welsh Water gate below the stilling basin, to just above the raft put in steps (previously the Chipper). No fences or gates should be crossed outside of this area to use any other sections of the river. 

·        Access to the right-hand side bank is via the stile on the downstream side of Irish Bridge. 

·        There is no access above the Welsh Water gate. 

·        If the Top Site is booked for shared use, there will be a maximum of 3 groups (and/or 24 people) operating in the location. Any unauthorised users should be reported to centre staff. 

·        All coaches and instructors working on the Top Site must be qualified to the appropriate level and must not work outside of their remit. 

·        It is the coach / instructor’s responsibility to ensure that their group are aware of and abide by the terms and conditions of use, at all times. 

·        The Top Site is a shallow water site with some steep banks. Water levels can change. All NWWC Duty Managers are happy to show desinated locations for safety and rescue taining. It is the responsibiity of the trainer to undertake their own risk assessments.

·        Please keep the turning circle and farm access track over Irish Bridge, clear, at all times.

·        The entirety of the Top Site should be treated as farmland. As such, dogs should be kept under control, at all times. 

Seasonal Restrictions for use of the Top Site  

·        January to May: Top Site will be open from immediately below Fishtrap Weir to the raft put in steps. 

·        June to October: Top site will be open below the Welsh Water gate to the raft put in steps (you can access this section through the top gate from the car park, as marked on the map). 

·        November and December - Top Site closed: Rescue training can be carried out between the raft take out steps and the pool immediately below Chapel Falls during this time (please ask Centre staff for clarification if you are unsure of this location).
