Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting in North Wales

Welcome to the National White Water Centre; the UK's original whitewater rafting company - we've been creating memories and offering amazing river experiences in North Wales on the River Tryweryn for 40 years.

Located riverside at Canolfan Tryweryn, near Bala in Eryri (Snowdonia) our rafting takes place right outside the door on class 3-4 white water. Being dam-controlled the Tryweryn has fantastic water levels, especially in the summer when other rivers are low. For any visit to Wales, activities that a rainy day won’t spoil are always welcome - come rafting at the National White Water Centre and embrace getting soaked!

During September and October access to the Topsite has been restricted as essential work is carried out on the bridge. For paddlers’ safety during the construction period please only access the river downstream of the bridge. When the Topsite is in use for rescue training recreational paddlers should use the steps downstream of the Chipper, or if no rescue training is in progress it will be possible to paddle the section from the Top Hole to the Chipper without entering the construction area.

During September and October Welsh Water will be carrying out essential maintenance work on the Topsite bridge which will affect access to the rescue training site and reduce the area which can be used for training exercises. For the duration of the work it won’t possible to pass under the bridge or access the river upstream of the bridge. It will still possible to get into the lower end of the pool between the bridge and the rapids leading down to The Chipper; training exercises can continue in this section as normal. For the duration of the work only one group will be able to book Top site on any day, and they will be able to carry out some exercises downstream of the Chipper – please discuss this with Centre staff at reception on arrival. Please use the main carpark before you reach the turning circle and keep the access track to bridge clear.
