Local river Rafting
17th October to 1st December is traditionally a quiet period for rafting here at the National White Water Centre as salmon spawning season begins in earnest.
At this time of year, salmon swim the thousands of miles from the Atlantic Ocean back to their original spawning grounds; some heading to Llyn Celyn upstream of our centre.
The Environment Agency mimics natural water levels on the River Tryweryn to encourage the salmon to run, and usually these water levels aren’t suitable for rafting and kayaking. So this year with all the water available nearby, we made the most of rafting at local rivers instead!
Below are a selection of our favourite moments from Orca Adventure trips on the River Alwen, Vyrnwy and Conwy.
